NYC Low Income Housing Development Removal Cost Litigation

case_leg_nyclowincomeThe New York City Housing Authority attempted to sue major paint manufacturers for the cost of removing lead-based paint during subsequent renovation of the units in several low income housing projects.

We inspected the involved units to determine the location and condition of lead-based paint, and the condition of the substrates to which it was applied in order to provide a hazard assessment for occupants and renovation workers, and to fine tune cost estimates for the required remediation.

Our analysis found that deferred maintenance of the buildings had resulted in severe damage, including structural damage, that would significantly affect lead-based paint remediation costs.
